Two men have been indicted in Orange County for the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Angel Martinez that occurred earlier last year. Amarion Hammons and Jabez Actie, each 22 years old, now face charges of First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, and multiple firearm-related offenses. The indictment comes following an investigation into an incident that took place on June 18, 2023, at the intersection of Reddit Road and Pershing Avenue, which led to the tragic end of Mr. Martinez's life and left another passenger wounded.
The Orange County Sheriff's deputies were the first responders to the crime scene. Detectives quickly pinpointed a suspect vehicle before identifying Hammons and Actie as the individuals inside the car. According to the State Attorney's Office, an arrest warrant for Hammons was issued on Sept. 5, and he was taken into custody the day after for his involvement in the murder. Actie was initially arrested on unrelated drug charges but later connected to Mr. Martinez's murder through further investigation.
On Wednesday, the State presented compelling evidence to a grand jury, securing the indictment against Hammons and Actie. The charges include First Degree Murder (with a Firearm), two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm, Shooting at, Within or Into an Occupied Vehicle, and Shooting from a Vehicle.
