Details emerge about a fatal shooting in Homosassa last week, where an adult male was reported to have been shot at a residence on South Scarlet Oak Terrace. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call last Thursday. The victim, 44-year-old Aaron Michael Kyle, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital from his injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.
In the immediate aftermath of the crime, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office deployed crime scene specialists and members of the Tactical Impact Unit to work on the case. A statement released by Sheriff Mike Prendergast outlined the gravity of the situation, "This case has presented significant challenges," as noted by the Sheriff's Office.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office has since arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting. Shawn Michael Hutton, a 34-year-old convicted felon, was apprehended on charges including murder while engaged in home invasion robbery, home invasion with a firearm, and kidnapping with intent to commit or commission a felony. Alongside him, 34-year-old Andrew Douglas Gore faces similar charges, with both of their arrest details emerging from the ongoing investigative efforts.
The local community has understandably expressed a heightened interest in the case, prompting the Criminal Investigations Captain John Novy to acknowledge public concern and patience in a Facebook post, "I know the public is curious about this incident, and I appreciate everyone's patience," Captain Novy remarked. The investigation, still active, potentially could result in additional charges for the suspects, as detectives continue to examine evidence and follow up on leads. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office encourages anyone with information to come forward and assist in their ongoing efforts.
