Two 20-year-old men were arrested last week by the Wilmington Police on serious drug charges. The arrests took place early Friday morning, as part of an operation by the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division. These arrests resulted in a major impact on the lives of the young men involved.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, Javonte Waters and Kaevon Tucker were observed in what was described as drug-related activity on West 7th Street. What followed was a swift intervention by law enforcement: the two were apprehended without incident, but not before police seized 102 grams of a substance long debated — marijuana — along with $407 in cash.
Waters has found himself charged with offenses including Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He faced the judge at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was able to secure his release by posting a cash-only bail of $7,200. Tucker's situation is similar to Waters', as he faces the same charges and was released under the same financial conditions.
