Two individuals were shot on a Brooklyn subway platform yesterday afternoon, an incident that led to a temporary shutdown of the Q train station in Sheepshead Bay as police began their investigation. According to abc7NY, the shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Avenue U and East 15th Street, where one victim, an 18-year-old man, was grazed in the stomach, and another, a 21-year-old man, was shot in the leg. Both victims were transported to the hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
After the shooting, witnesses saw people fleeing from the elevated platform and through an emergency gate, including one who appeared to be a victim. The police, who arrived to assist the injured, are searching for a man and a woman believed to have escaped on the Q train. No detailed descriptions of the suspects have been released.
NBC New York adds that the two suspects, whose motives remain unknown, managed to escape on a train immediately after the gunfire erupted on the platform. After the incident, the affected subway train was removed to preserve the scene for law enforcement.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward as the search for the two suspects continues.
