Yesterday morning, a group of thieves used a U-Haul truck in an attempted break-in at Jazz Cannabis Club, a Detroit dispensary located on Telegraph Road near McNichols. As reported by CBS News Detroit, security cameras captured the incident at approximately 4:15 a.m., when the suspects rammed the vehicle into the back of the building. Though they managed to breach the wall and enter the premises, they left without taking any merchandise.
George Brikho, the dispensary's owner, expressed his frustration to FOX 2 Detroit, stating, "For me to make a claim, it's going to raise my insurance, so I'm just better off fixing it myself." This recent event marks the second time the business has been targeted, following a previous incident where a group used sledgehammers to gain entry. Brikho suspects the same individuals were behind both attacks.
The Jazz Cannabis Club, despite sustaining significant property damage estimated by Brikho at a staggering $50,000 deductible to repair the hole, remains operational while police continue their investigation. The owner, quoted by CBS News Detroit, lamented the economic pressure, saying, "We're not corporate box stores where we have massive amounts of money to fund us if we take a hit." The would-be thieves left empty-handed in light of the dispensary's tight security measures, which secure all products within vaults.
