The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team is preparing for the start of their 2025 season. Before the regular season begins, the team will host an exhibition match against British Columbia, providing a preview of their new lineup and emerging players.
The pre-season event, coined "First Serve: Warrior Volleyball '25," will open doors at 5:00 p.m., with the match slated for a 6:00 p.m. spike off at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center today. Hawaii Athletics reports that admission to get a first glimpse of the Rainbow Warriors' performance is absolutely free, adding to the accessibility for fans to witness the fresh faces and returning talents alike. Contrary to the zero-cost entry, parking will set patrons back $10.
The First Serve event will include more than just on-court action. In collaboration with the UH Office of Alumni Relations, the evening will feature merchandise sales from alumni-owned businesses such as HiLife, thankful, and Sweet Enemy. According to Hawaii Athletics, post-match activities will include a "talk story" session, a meet-and-greet with the players, and an autograph signing to conclude the evening.
The Rainbow Warriors' roster will include a mix of experience and new talent, with three returning starters—setter Tread Rosenthal, middle blocker Kurt Nusterer, and libero 'Eleu Choy—along with eight lettermen. "I’m very excited to see what we can do and show what we need to work on and show what we are capable of doing this season," 'Eleu Choy told KHON2. Fans can purchase season and individual match tickets at etickethawaii.com.
The exhibition may not be broadcast live, but the Rainbow Warriors will begin their season on the court. Following the exhibition, Hawaii’s regular season will start with a two-match series against McKendree on Friday and next Sunday.
