
The small city of Vernon, home to just 222 residents according to the 2020 Census, awoke Sunday to the aftermath of a fatal shooting near its train tracks. Around 1:06 A.M., deputies responded to the 4900 block of Charter Street on a 'suspicious circumstances' call, only to find an unresponsive male victim who was declared dead at the scene. The victim’s identity remains withheld as authorities investigate, KTLA reports.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau has taken over the case, urging the public to assist with any information that might shed light on the motive or potential suspects.
