Upper Arlington calls for community members to put forward the names of individuals and groups that have strengthened the neighborhood through their actions and dedication. Two significant opportunities are approaching to honor these local heroes: the 2024 Community Awards and the 2025 Wall of Honor, with nominations due in January.
The deadline for the 2024 Community Awards is January 17, 2025. This program seeks out those who have played a crucial role in enhancing the local way of life across various sectors, including Business, Community Enrichment, Community Relations, Senior, and Youth. The City invites submissions that identify the contributions of these valuable community members, whether they are tireless volunteers, innovative businesses, or inspiring young leaders.
Similarly, the 2025 Wall of Honor provides an opportunity to acknowledge the illustrious achievements of former residents whose efforts have extended beyond the local community. With the nominations closing on January 10, 2025, there's a push for the public to recognize individuals who have excelled in diverse fields- the arts or commerce, education or public service—and all the spheres in between. The City is looking to celebrate these stories of extraordinary commitment and success at a special ceremony in May, where they will unveil a bronze plaque in the honoree's name.
Residents must complete the nomination forms and visit the City of Upper Arlington's official website. The act of nominating someone is, in itself, a reflection of the interconnectedness that forms the bedrock of a community. As we move into the new year, taking a moment to celebrate the achievements of those around us can serve as a poignant reminder of the collective spirit that enriches a community. For those who have made a notable impact, sharing their story can inspire others and ensure their efforts receive the recognition they deserve.
