Chaos erupted inside a Vallejo restaurant last Friday when a man allegedly brandishing a firearm caused patrons to flee in panic. According to a social media post by the Vallejo Police Department, the suspect was spotted yelling and brandishing what appeared to be a firearm at customers within a restaurant on Admiral Callaghan Lane near Tennessee Street.
Upon receipt of the disturbance call, Vallejo officers advised the restaurant manager to evacuate the premises quickly. The police presence rapidly escalated as the suspect vehemently declined to heed officers' commands to stop and show his hands, opting instead to make his exit toward Interstate 80 hastily. The pursuit spilled onto the freeway, with officers in the determined chase to catch the fleeing man on foot amidst the heavy traffic of rush hour.
The pursuit moved to the interstate as officers surrounded the suspect, who, finding himself at a dead-end, was taken into custody after a brief hesitation. "The suspect froze in disbelief, realizing there was nowhere to run," the Vallejo Police Department's post described.
A subsequent search unearthed a realistic replica firearm discarded in a trash can at the original scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before being booked into Solano County Jail.
