A sudden accident turned fiery spectacle occurred at the Arlington Highlands shopping center last Friday, where a vehicle crashed into Bone Daddy's barbecue restaurant, igniting a blaze. The Arlington Police Department reported to NBC DFW that the accident took place around 4:45 p.m., resulting in a fire that required swift response from emergency services.
After having car troubles, the driver attempted to park behind the business, but according to police statements accidentally accelerated and struck the building, as well as an electrical box. This double impact, captured in shocking video footage revealing smoke and fire that were reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, led to the vehicle and part of the restaurant being consumed by flames. The incident also left the affected restaurant without power.
Thankfully, the restaurant was evacuated immediately and no one was reported injured in the aftermath of the crash. Police statements confirm that the building caught fire following the collision, but the blaze was "quickly extinguished," police said, as the Arlington Fire Department took control of the situation, as cited by NBC DFW.
No charges are expected to be filed, police said, referencing the incident as an accident. Damage assessments and the future operational status of Bone Daddy's barbecue restaurant following the fire, which sparked after parking behind the restaurant to solve car trouble, remain to be reported. The full scope of the impact on the business and its ability to serve the community again is yet uncertain.
