Wailua Homesteads Park will be closed for tennis and basketball activities until January 24, 2025, due to resurfacing work and the addition of new pickleball courts. This is part of a $3.1 million Playcourt Resurfacing Project at county facilities. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by that date, according to the County of Kauai.
The planned shutdown for park upgrades has been extended from September 3 to December 2024. The work, led by Pacific Concrete Cutting & Coring, Inc., is part of a larger project to improve Wailua Houselots Park, the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex, and Puhi Park. While the delay may be inconvenient for some park-goers, the project aims to provide upgraded facilities that should benefit both athletes and casual visitors once completed, as reported by the County of Kauai.
