The Washington County Sheriff's Office held an active shooter training at Glencoe High School. The morning session covered response strategies and medical aid, and in the afternoon, participants took part in drills simulating an active shooter situation, as reported by KPTV.
The Sheriff's Office has been holding active shooter drills for over 20 years. "Stop the killing and then stop the dying," said Lieutenant John Creccelius, emphasizing the addition of paramedics and firefighters in the training. Volunteers act as victims in realistic scenarios with shell casings and simulated chaos, helping officers prepare mentally for real-life situations, as stated by KOIN.
Around 50 role players took part in training sessions to help agencies like the Washington County Sheriff's Office, firefighters, and police prepare for emergencies. The goal of the training was to improve their ability to respond quickly and professionally. "Its purpose is to have them be more mentally prepared and have that professional response," said Lieutenant Creccelius, according to KGW.
