As night falls, the winds are expected to shift from southwest to northwest and could reach speeds up to 18 mph in gusts. Come Thursday, the clouds are set to clear up, making way for sunny skies and a high temperature hovering near 45 degrees. As the week draws towards its close, Friday will bring with it a 30% chance of rain post 1 p.m. with mostly cloudy skies and a high projected near 43 degrees. The wind, expected to remain calm, will shift to the north by the afternoon, moving at about 5 mph. Friday night also presents a 30% chance of rain before 1 a.m., with nighttime temperatures forecasted to drop close again to the 30-degree mark.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather is set to improve with mostly sunny conditions on Saturday and highs planned around 38 degrees. Clearing skylines continue into Sunday with a high near 32 degrees during the day, and by nightfall, the temperatures could decrease to around 17. The start of the new week will maintain the bright trend, promising sunny days and partly sunny transitions into Tuesday, containing highs creeping back to the low 40s, as Washingtonians navigate the flux of winter's embrace.
