The college football scene is set for an exhilarating matchup as the Louisville Cardinals will take on the Washington Huskies in the 91st Annual Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, as officially announced by Sun Bowl personnel including Football Chairman John Folmer, Association President Michael Guerra, and Executive Director Bernie Olivas, as reported by KFOX-TV. The game, slated for December 31, marks a significant event for both teams, it's the Huskies' return after vying for the national championship last year, while the Cardinals make their first Sun Bowl appearance since 1958.
According to El Paso Times, this event marks the Cardinals' fourth consecutive bowl invitation and their 20th since the year 2000 showing they are no strangers to postseason play, and it will be their second bowl under head coach Jeff Brohm, Louisville boasts a solid season record with quarterback Tyler Shough, who has thrown for 3,195 yards, racking up 23 touchdowns and only six interceptions, while running back Isaac Brown has made significant contributions on the ground, rushing for 1,074 yards and achieving 11 touchdowns.
El Paso's hospitality toward visiting teams and fans from out of town seems to be well-recognized. "Everybody knows how the people of El Paso treat out of town guests. Everybody knows when they run into people at the gas station, calling them up, talking to people here, how great they are, El Paso's a great place, and having Washington come back after having played for the national championship last year, and they're here to play, it's incredible," as detailed by KVIA.
