Early this morning, the normal flow of Pittsburgh's Greenfield neighborhood was disrupted when a water main break occurred. The break flooded a busy intersection and shut down Hazelwood Avenue, a critical thoroughfare. As WPXI reported, the break occurred near the intersection of Hazelwood Avenue and Beechwood Boulevard.
The incident was said to unfold around 1 a.m., causing inconvenience to the local community. Hazelwood Avenue was closed from Greenfield Avenue to Beechwood Boulevard while crews worked on repairs, leading to alterations in the day's commute. Pittsburgh's Action News 4 observed water flowing swiftly down Beechwood Boulevard, although the flow has since ceased, according to details from WTAE.
In response to the issue, the Pittsburgh Water Authority shut off the water supply in the area to manage the situation and facilitate repair works. Pittsburgh Water has offered some solace for the residents and businesses affected by this incident by projecting that service will be restored by 4 p.m. today.
