A Wayne County man, who maintained a daily habit of buying scratch-off tickets, hit a $1 million jackpot in the Michigan Lottery's Wild Cherry instant game. The 50-year-old, preferring to stay out of the limelight, secured the fortune from a ticket purchased at the Way Station located at 950 South Main Street, Plymouth, as detailed by ClickOnDetroit. His choice to accept the windfall as a one-time payment granted him approximately $693,000 before taxes.
The unassuming winner, whose identity remains concealed, narrated his encounter with fortune-telling MI Lottery Connect, "I scratched the Wild Cherry ticket when I got home and when I saw it was a $1 million winning ticket, I had to scan it on the app to make sure I was reading it right. Once the app confirmed my prize, I woke up my wife to tell her the good news!" He revealed plans for home renovations, a leisurely vacation, and a desire for a comfortable life with the earnings.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated the player, saying, "Scratching off a $1 million winning ticket would be a dream come true for anyone, and it became a reality for this lucky player in an instant playing the Wild Cherry game." This comes as a part of a successful run for the lottery game, which, as per MI Lottery Connect, has given out over $16 million since its launch in September, with more than $36 million in prizes yet to be claimed, including two additional $1 million top prizes.
