Heads up, Bay Area drivers: if you're planning to navigate the Ladue Road area under Interstate 270, you're going to need a new game plan next weekend. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), there's a scheduled closure you should be aware of—unless, of course, the weather decides to throw another wrench in the works.
The stretch of Ladue Road running beneath I-270 will be out of commission from Friday, December 13 at 8 p.m. until next Monday, at 5 a.m. This hiatus in regular traffic flow, is for the placement of girders as part of a bridge widening effort on the interstate overhead. This update was reported in a statement acquired by Missouri Department of Transportation, which assures locals that the work won't affect those traveling on I-270 itself during this time.
Getting around the closure will require a bit of a detour. Those heading east of I-270 on Ladue Road can switch up their path by taking Interstate 64, hopping off at Ballas Road (Exit 26), and then heading north until they reconnect with Ladue Road. If you're journeying westward, your best bet is to extend your drive north on I-270, get off at Olive Boulevard (Route 340), and maneuver through Woodcrest Executive Drive to Coeur De Ville Drive, which will bring you back to Ladue Road.
Local commuters are no strangers to roadwork and the analogous headaches these infrastructure upgrades can cause. However, MoDOT's proactive communication and clearly outlined alternative routes might just make the upcoming interruption a tad less inconvenient. Besides, residents can take some comfort in the fact that the work is being done for a safer, more efficient travel experience on the Ladue and I-270 exchange in the long run. For now, marking your calendars for Friday and planning ahead could save some unnecessary stress come next weekend.
