President-elect Donald Trump has appointed West Palm Beach businessman John Arrigo as the next U.S. ambassador to Portugal, as announced by Trump's transition team. Arrigo is recognized for his business leadership in West Palm Beach, with Trump stating, "For over thirty years, he has been an incredible leader in business in West Palm Beach, and is respected by all," in a report by CBS12.
The appointment follows another selection by Trump, naming Nicole McGraw as the U.S. ambassador to Croatia. McGraw, described by Trump as a philanthropist and art aficionado, opened her first art gallery in Palm Beach Gardens in 2006.
An official statement regarding Arrigo's appointment was also shared on the social platform Truth Social. "It is my great honor to announce that John Arrigo will serve as the next United States Ambassador to Portugal," Trump declared, while emphasizing Arrigo's longstanding relationship with the Palm Beach business scene as well as his success in the auto industry. Trump affirmed his belief, "He will do an incredible job for our Country, and always put America FIRST"
Somers Farkas has been named the new U.S. ambassador to Malta. Farkas brings experience in modeling, philanthropy, film production, and business. According to The Hill, she previously served on Trump’s President’s Commission on White House Fellowships and advocated for organizations such as the ASPCA and the Alzheimer’s Association. She is also a trustee of the New York City Police Foundation, with Trump noting that she "has always BACKED THE BLUE."
