The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is currently in a state of mourning following the loss of one of its longtime corrections officers. Patricia "Patty" Jakubowski, known for her bright presence among staff, fell victim to a medical emergency while on duty at the Williamson County Jail on December 9 and passed away the next day. CBS Austin reports that Jakubowski was given immediate medical attention by jail staff before being transported to Seton Williamson Hospital.
With an extensive 17-year career at the Sheriff's Office, Jakubowski was known for her "quick smile, joyful attitude, and infectious laugh," as described by the Sheriff’s Office. According to KXAN, she passed away on December 10, "peacefully while surrounded by her loving family." An agency took to social media to express their sorrow and to commemorate her service in the various roles she had over the years.
"Patty served in many roles with a quick smile, joyful attitude, and infectious laugh. Along with her family and friends, we grieve the loss of a dedicated friend and coworker," the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Details regarding a service for Jakubowski have yet to be announced. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office has stated that information about the service will be provided at a later date. In the meantime, her colleagues, along with her family and friends, continue to remember and honor an officer whose personality transcended the confines of the role she occupied.
