Wilson County Man Arrested for Insurance Fraud and Related Felony Charges After Multi-Agency InvestigationSource: Google Street View

A 32-year-old man from Wilson County, Adrian Brown, has been arrested on multiple felony charges, including insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by fraud. The arrest followed a detailed investigation involving several agencies, according to the North Carolina Department of Insurance release.

Special agents, with help from the Wilson Police Department, N.C. DMV License and Theft Bureau, and N.C. State Highway Patrol, uncovered the case after Adrian Brown filed a fake police report claiming his 2019 Nissan Altima was stolen. The car was later found to have been in a crash that totaled it. Brown, who is being held without bond on unrelated drug charges and failure to appear in court, was arrested and appeared in Wilson County District Court on Nov. 25.

Commissioner Causey said on the release, "This multi-agency investigation was conducted with great teamwork, and I'm proud of the collaboration." It was further discovered by the agents that Brown crashed the vehicle on purpose and then sought to claim money from National General for its replacement. Additionally, he managed to receive $480 from National General for a rental car. The investigation's success stemmed from a partnership that looked into the incident, which happened on March 30. "Thanks to all agents for bringing this case to light," Causey added.
