Earlier today, a woman lost her life in a hit-and-run crash in southwest Houston, as per reports from the Houston Police Department. The incident took place at around 6:40 a.m. along Westpark Drive near Fondren Road. The victim, believed to be in her 30s and possibly a jogger due to the tennis shoes she was wearing, was struck by a vehicle also traveling westbound, which failed to maintain a single lane, ABC13 reports.
The driver involved didn't stay at the location, leaving behind no immediate description for authorities to work with. This has prompted an investigation by the Vehicular Crimes Division of the Houston Police Department, who are currently collecting evidence at the scene. KHOU has mentioned that initially, the police incorrectly identified the victim as a juvenile before issuing a correction that she was, in fact, a woman in her 30s.
Witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident have been urged to come forward and assist in the hunt for the suspect. Houston Police Department is asking for the public's help and is directing tips to be called into the Vehicular Crimes Division at 713-247-4065.
