
In a recent sting operation, Worcester Police detectives arrested a man suspected of committing multiple convenience store robberies around the city. The arrest was made yesterday. According to a social media post by the Worcester Police Department, detectives had been on the lookout for 47-year-old Nehemias Montes, who was wanted on several active warrants.
The information led the detectives to Union Station, where Montes was believed to be arriving by train. They waited for him and successfully located Montes on one of the inbound trains. Upon his arrest for the outstanding warrants, the detectives also discovered several bags of fentanyl on his person, leading to additional charges of Possession of a Class A Substance.
The series of robberies had put local convenience store owners on edge, and the arrest is a welcomed development in a string of crimes that have caused concern in the community. Details about the number of robberies and the specific locations targeted by Montes have not been released by the police at this time.
