
Over the course of a week, the Wright County Sheriff's Office reported a series of arrests in various towns, interspersed with a notable number of traffic accidents and violations. According to a Wright County Sheriff's Office press release, the arrests included charges ranging from assault and burglary to drug possession and multiple instances of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
One arrest highlighted was that of Shaafi Muse Awaale, 31, of Eagan, apprehended in Buffalo on November 25th on charges of 2nd Degree Assault. That same day, Sara Jacqueline Dennis, 39, of Long Lake found herself in custody in Delano on a charge of obstructing legal process, while Grahm Mark Fletcher, 34, of Albertville was nabbed in Monticello on a Wright County warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
The report details continued efforts by law enforcement to address traffic safety as evidenced by the 16 reported property damage accidents, 5 personal injury accidents, and 11 car-deer accidents. The county also registered a significant number of DWI arrests, tallying up to 9 in the same period. A sector that is of particular concern is the violation of school bus stop arms, with officers having to respond to 4 such incidents.
With a broad array of charges, the arrestees represent a cross-section of offenses that Wright County law enforcement deals with routinely. Among other individuals taken into custody were Antonio Eugene McDonal, 53, of St Michael, on December 30th for 1st Degree DWI and driving restrictions violations, and two days earlier, Derek Jamar Tucker, 24, of Buffalo was arrested on a Wright County warrant for possession of a controlled substance. The arrest record serves as a window into the persistent challenges that the community and law enforcement face.
