Yolo County Charges Toward a Greener Future with First Electric Compactor in FleetSource: Yolo County

Yolo County has made progress in environmental sustainability with the addition of its first electric compactor, the Volvo DD25 Electric. This new piece of equipment will help the county work toward its goal of achieving a carbon-negative footprint by 2030. The move aligns with the county's Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for climate change, according to the Yolo County.

"This pioneering addition not only supports our goal of achieving a carbon-negative footprint by 2030, but also exemplifies our dedication to innovative solutions that protect our environment and improve the quality of life for our residents," said Lucas Frerichs, Chair of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. More information about the electric compactor and other green initiatives can be found on Yolo County's website.

Yolo County has added an electric compactor to its fleet, which already includes electric forklifts and trucks. Ben Lee, Fleet Superintendent, said, "The DD25 Electric will help us achieve our goals in several ways: by reducing emissions, lowering noise levels, being more energy efficient, improving working conditions, and promoting environmentally friendly practices." The new compactor will support road projects and help the county meet its sustainability goals. State incentives, like the Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher program, have helped make these changes possible. Yolo County is also working with industry partners to reduce emissions further.
