Commuters in north Harris County faced major delays yesterday after an 18-wheeler became lodged in a ditch, obstructing southbound traffic along I-45. The Harris County Pct. 4 Constable's Office reported that the incident occurred near Magic Oaks Drive. According to Click2Houston, the blockage prompted local authorities to advise drivers to seek alternative routes.
The truck mishap caused considerable traffic holdups, with the constable's office working swiftly to manage the congestion and remove the vehicle. As reported by the constable's office via their official Facebook page, "Constable Deputies are on the scene of a traffic hazard at 100 Magic Oaks Drive and the North Freeway."
While the southbound lanes were blocked, the constable's office took to social media to notify the public and provide ongoing updates. They encouraged motorists to follow their Facebook page and to download the "C4 NOW" mobile app, which offers live feeds on crime, arrests, safety tips, and traffic conditions. The link to their page can be found at Facebook.com/Precinct4.
Relief came as the truck was eventually extracted from its plight, though the lanes remained closed until authorities confirmed the area was safe for transit. The constable's office has not indicated what led to the truck's misadventure or provided a timeline for when normal traffic patterns would resume.
