Early yesterday morning commuters in Dallas County experienced significant delays following an incident involving an 18-wheeler northbound on I-35 at Royal. According to a social media post from the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, the truck overturned, which led to the closure of four right lanes as traffic deputies worked to get the truck upright again. As reported, there were no injuries.
The incident, which was first reported at 10:40 am, had forced commuters to look for alternative routes while the clean-up and removal of the toppled vehicle ensued, causing a bottleneck that set the tone for a cumbersome drive, yet despite the potential for disaster in such scenarios, the Sheriff's Department managed to clear the scene relatively quickly.
An update from the department confirmed that by 12:01 pm, all previously affected lanes were open, allowing for traffic to resume its normal flow.
