In a distressing development out of west Harris County, an 18-year-old has been charged with multiple felonies following a carjacking incident that led to a high-speed pursuit and the discovery of a woman with a gunshot wound in the stolen vehicle. The Harris County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as Christopher Rashad Morgan Jr., who now faces charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

The ordeal began near a gas station at Clay Road and Greenhouse Road, where, according to Click2Houston, a woman was carjacked at gunpoint. Although this woman was later found unharmed, deputies uncovered, in the course of their investigation, a second woman shot and left in the backseat of the stolen vehicle. The injured woman is currently in fair condition and expected to survive.

Following the initial report of the carjacking, Harris County Precinct 5 deputies spotted the vehicle and engaged in a chase that concluded when the suspect crashed into another car at the intersection of Clay Road and the Grand Parkway. Morgan attempted to flee on foot post-collision but was quickly apprehended by law enforcement.

While the relationship between Morgan and the woman found injured is still under investigation, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, in a statement obtained by FOX26 Houston, suggested that the suspect may have visited the home of an ex-girlfriend between the carjacking and the pursuit. The suggestion continues that the woman ended up in the vehicle and might have been shot when she attempted to escape. The full details surrounding these events remain, as of now, unclear.
