
A 50-year-old man was fatally shot in Stockton yesterday night, according to the Stockton Police Department. The incident occurred just past 9 p.m. on the 100 block of West Poplar Street. ABC10 reports that upon arrival, officers found the man with a gunshot wound and quickly transported him to a hospital, where he unfortunately died from his injuries.
Simultaneously, another report from KCRA 3 indicates that the shooting was first reported at around 9:03 p.m. near Poplar and Madison streets. Officers who responded to the scene were able to quickly detain a 33-year-old individual and recover a firearm. The connection between the detained person and the shooting has yet to be fully established, as the investigation continues to unfold.
Details regarding the motive or circumstances leading up to the shooting are still unclear. The Stockton Police Department has not released further information on the identity of the deceased or the individual currently in detention.
