
A 76-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition following a boat crash the San Joaquin River on Sunday. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office stated the boat capsized after the man, believed to be the driver, struck a wake and crashed. This incident occurred near the 300 block of Brannan Island Road, close to the confluence of the Mokelumne and San Joaquin rivers, as reported by CBS Sacramento.
Following the crash, nearby boaters intervened to rescue the man from water, administering CPR until he was retrieved by first responders. The River Delta Fire District reported that he eventually regained pulses and breathing. According to ABC10, the victim was then transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office's marine unit is investigating the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that high speeds may have contributed to the crash. Near the scene of the accident is the Riverboat Marina, a known landmark for boating and marine activities along these interconnected waterways, as per CBS Sacramento.
