An Akron man, 19-year-old Darrin Welch, received a life sentence for the 2023 murder of Antenio Louis, a senior at East High School. As reported by WKYC, Welch, while in a vehicle, opened fire on another car on East Glenwood Avenue on Aug. 16, 2023, resulting in the death of the 17-year-old football player and severe injuries to the driver.
According to the same report, Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich expressed his gratitude towards the Akron Police Department and the assistant prosecutors for bringing Welch to justice, stating, "Antenio Louis was a beloved son, brother, and teammate.
