
Akron's Mayor Shammas Malik and Fire Chief Leon Henderson have proudly announced that two of the city's finest, Firefighter/Paramedics Elizabeth Davis and James Remick, have been honored with the title of "EMS Crew of the Year for 2024" by the Cleveland Clinic. The acknowledgment, set to be formally bestowed at the inaugural awards ceremony tomorrow, recognizes Davis and Remick's steadfast dedication, skill, and performance under pressure while answering the call of emergency medical services.
The duo, stationed at Fire Station 6 on South Hawkins Avenue, was nominated for the prestigious award by their lieutenant, Chris Bader. According to Bader, their remarkable teamwork, composed demeanor in the face of adversity, and exemplary adherence to EMS protocols made them stand out from the many deserving candidates. Their joint efforts played pivotal roles in successfully managing life-threatening emergencies, a fact that did not go unnoticed by the Cleveland Clinic's EMS Awards committee.
In a recent spate of high-stress situations, including pediatric and adult cardiac arrests and severe traumas, Davis and Remick's ability to remain calm and implement their rigorous training made a significant difference in patient outcomes. "Elizabeth and James exemplify the qualities of an exceptional EMS crew. Their commitment to providing the highest level of care, even in the most challenging circumstances, is nothing short of inspiring," Lt.
