Larry Roger Sparks, Jr., a 46-year-old from Albany, Georgia, has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms offenses. After years of illegal activity, his operations were shut down through a joint effort by local and federal law enforcement, according to the U.S. Attorney Office.

On last Friday, Chief U.S. District Judge Leslie A. Gardner sentenced Larry Roger Sparks, Jr. to 40 years in prison for distributing heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, as well as dealing drugs near minors and possessing a firearm. The weapon, a Sig Sauer P365 9mm, was used to support his drug trafficking. U.S. Attorney Peter D. Leary stated, "Fentanyl and guns are a dangerous combination which will not be tolerated by this office or our law enforcement partners," while DEA official Robert J. Murphy pointed out that fentanyl is the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18-45, as stated by the U.S. Attorney Office.

In 2023, an undercover GBI operation uncovered that Sparks was selling large amounts of 98% pure methamphetamine and fentanyl from his home at 1501 Pinecrest Drive in Albany, putting three children at risk. After several controlled purchases, a raid on May 16, 2023, led to the seizure of drugs, guns, and cash. The joint effort of local law enforcement and the DEA resulted in Sparks' conviction, aided by his criminal history, including armed robbery and drug trafficking. He was sentenced to prison, as reported by the U.S. Attorney Office.
