An Arlington Public Schools substitute teacher is facing charges over alleged improper conduct with a minor, and the local police are looking to uncover further potential victims. Timothy McGhee, 47, from Alexandria, Virginia, who was working at Washington-Liberty High School, has found himself encircled by the law following accusations of initiating a sexual relationship with a female student, information that came to the surface at the start of this month.
According to Arlington County Police Department’s notice, the department's Special Victims Unit detained McGhee on January 10. He is charged under Virginia Code §§ 18.2-370.1 and 18.2-60.3, encompassing offenses that includes Taking Indecent Liberties with a Child by a Person in a Supervisory or Custodial Relationship and Stalking. This alleged relationship purportedly began in September 2022 and continued unnoticed until recently.
The inquiry into McGhee's actions was set in motion on January 3 following a tip-off. Since the arrest, authorities are broadening their investigation to determine if there are other students who might have suffered at the hands of this individual. Police have not disclosed how they first received the information about the alleged relationships, nor the precise nature of the evidence they've gathered.
