Aliquippa, PA—Authorities continue their search for 39-year-old Brett Ours, a man accused of a brutal assault that took place within the walls of a local VFW post. The violent incident occurred late Sunday evening, per details released by the Aliquippa Police Department and surveillance footage. Ours allegedly attacked and strangled another man for an estimated half-hour span in an unprovoked confrontation, reported by WPXI.
Police were called to the scene at the VFW on 211 Penn Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Sunday when Ours reportedly fled. The suspect is said to have used a bar stool in the course of the assault, exacerbating the gravity of the attack upon the victim—who was primarily rendered unconscious and defenseless. The assault's severity resulted in the victim being life-flighted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where they were treated for significant trauma to the head, neck, and face, according to a WTAE report.
The violent event has led authorities to charge Brett Ours with attempted homicide, assault, strangulation, and other crimes.
