Amazon has opened a new location in Kannapolis, marking its second presence in the city. The facility, a combination of a fulfillment and delivery station, aims to deliver products to customers within five hours of an order. Located at 6255 Shumard Street in the 85 Exchange Industrial Park, near Amazon's first distribution center, the facility spans 200,000 square feet and will employ 100 full-time workers.
According to the City of Kannapolis release, Kannapolis Mayor Darrell Hinnant expressed his enthusiasm about the new development. "We are pleased that Amazon has chosen to open a second location in Kannapolis and creating 100 new jobs in Kannapolis. Their growing presence in our City is another sign that we are a top location for corporations in the United States. Over the last decade we have worked to create an environment where businesses of all sizes can create their own momentum for success. We look forward to our continued positive relationship with Amazons," Mayor Hinnant said.
Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery centers are designed to meet the specific needs of the communities they serve. The Kannapolis facility will help expedite fulfillment, sorting, and delivery processes, supporting efficient e-commerce operations.

He highlighted the local talent pool and expressed optimism about the expansion's impact on economic growth and customer satisfaction.
