Yesterday, a Crofton apartment complex became the scene of a chilling crime— an attempted home invasion and sexual assault. Anne Arundel County Police Department reported that officers were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to the 1600 block of Park Ridge Circle, where an adult female victim reported an unknown man had forced his way into her residence and assaulted her with the intent, authorities believe, to commit a sex offense.
Despite efforts to catch the suspect, they remain large after an extensive search involving K-9, Aviation, and Patrol units. The Evidence Collection Unit processed the scene while the Criminal Investigation Division continued investigating. Meanwhile, an increased police presence in the area aims to reassure a community left on edge.
According to a statement from the authorities, the victim described the suspect as a Black male, about 5’4” to 5’6”, wearing a black beanie cap, a black/grey jacket, and jeans. The public is urged to stay alert and report any information that could help advance the case.
Those with information that could potentially aid the suspect's apprehension are urged to contact the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Sex Offense Unit at 410-222-4732.
