The Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) has kicked off a public commenting phase for the State La Plata South Oil and Gas Development Plan (OGDP), a component of the touted Lowry Ranch Drilling Project, this open forum is set to run until February 2. According to Arapahoe County, the public will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposals for the facility, which include up to 166 wells.
A Town Hall-style hearing has been scheduled by the ECMC for January 27, at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds, which lies at 25690 E Quincy Ave in Aurora, doors are opening at 4:30 p.m., with a planned sequence of introductory remarks followed by a public comment period which will last from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the county has made provisions for residents to register ahead of the event.
Those unable to attend in person are provided the alternative to submit written comments through the ECMC’s efiling docket system, as detailed by Arapahoe County. Interested parties should search for the State La Plata South OGDP using docket #240600148 on the system to express their views.
The OGDP process, a rigorous and public affair, asks energy development companies to obtain approval from the ECMC before any drilling can proceed that is Civitas Resources' first application since the approval of the Lowry Ranch Comprehensive Area Plan in August 2024, according to Arapahoe County.
