The clock is ticking for Partnership Home as they rally for volunteers in Arlington to assist with the nationwide Point in Time Count, set to occur on January 23, an undertaking aimed at capturing the scale of homelessness in one transformative night. According to the City of Arlington's official website, as of yesterday, there's a call out for at least 50 additional community members to join the efforts in Tarrant and Parker counties.
This vital count, happening between 5:30 pm and midnight, serves as a critical reference for assessing the specific needs within the community and crafting strategies to potentially eradicate homelessness, the success of which hinges on volunteers who canvass to count and survey individuals living in unsheltered conditions; and although progress has been made up to 450 volunteers have enlisted, there remains an urgent need to fill the gap.
For those ready to put their compassion into action, volunteering is streamlined through a registration process on the Point in Time website where options include pitching in at Arlington, Fort Worth, Northeast Tarrant, or Parker County. Volunteers can stand independently or march together as a team, with the binding thread being a mandatory training designed to prepare each participant for the intricacies of the night's count, delivered online and reiterated in person on the event night.
