The Arlington Public Library has recently expanded its repertoire of services to serve the community's varied needs. In addition to providing a vast collection of books, every library branch now offers document-handling tools, including scanning, copying, and faxing capabilities. Patrons needing access to these office essentials need not look further than their local library.

With the introduction of an all-in-one scan, copy, and fax machine at each location and three at the Downtown Library, one on each floor, residents can now easily manage document duplication and transmission. According to the City of Arlington, black and white copies are priced at 15 cents per page, and for those desiring a pop of color, it's 50 cents per page. It should be noted, however, that duplexed prints, charged per side, will cost patrons desiring to copy on both sides 30 cents for black and white and $1 for color.

Today's digital age doesn't lessen the need for paper trails; it transmutes it. Recognizing this, the library has also set the fee for digital scans at 5 cents per page, allowing patrons to email the scanned documents or save them onto a thumb drive. Additionally, domestic faxes can be sent at a charge of $1 per page—though it's important to acknowledge that the library does not extend this service for international faxing.

As for payment methods, patrons can opt between cash, credit, or AAM payments with the caveat that a minimum charge of $3 is in place for those who pay with a credit card. Not all transactions can survive on the digitized promises of flat screens. Hence, the Arlington Public Library reassures those still needing to puncture the digital fabric with the tangible ink of hard copies.
