Wauwatosa is on high alert following an armed robbery at a local Home Depot, which precipitated a tense stand-off as police searched a Milwaukee County Transit System bus for the armed suspect. According to reports by FOX6 News, the incident unfolded on Friday evening, January 10, around 10 p.m. at the Home Depot located near North 124th Street and Capitol Drive.
During the robbery, the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at an employee while making off with tools. Police speculate that the suspect may have boarded a bus shortly thereafter, which led to officers stopping an MCTS bus near Metro Market at 127th and Capitol. As reported by WISN 12 News, police officers with long guns surrounded the bus, and all passengers were taken off as negotiations were attempted using a loudspeaker with somebody believed to be the suspect still onboard.
The search for the suspect proved futile as law enforcement came up empty-handed despite the measures taken. Notwithstanding the drama, it was confirmed that no one was hurt during the crime or the subsequent police action. CBS 58 provided details reaffirming the lack of injuries and arrests following the ordeal.
Authorities remain on the lookout for the suspect, whose actions prompted a swift and heavy response from local law enforcement. The investigation continues as the search broadens beyond the immediate area of the robbery and the transit system. Community members are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could lead to apprehension of the individual responsible for the armed robbery at Home Depot. In the meantime, police assures the public that they are doing everything in their power to track down the suspect and prevent further such incidents.
