After enduring a week of downtime due to "suspicious activity" that struck the digital backbone of their institution, Aurora Public Schools have reinstated the majority of their internet and phone services. This cyber interruption, which commenced on January 14, caused the district to proactively take systems offline, APS spokesperson Corey Christiansen shared, as per FOX31. Restoring a semblance of digital normalcy, the services were up and running again by the end of the week.
Classes were affected as well, as school officials pointed to an internet security breach that sparked the shutdown of the district's internal network and subsequently, its internet-based phone system. During the week, classes saw delays and some programs were even canceled. Although the internet issues that necessitated this action have been resolved, there was more to the ordeal than mere inconvenience.
