
Austin Police Department (APD) detectives are seeking assistance from the community to identify the culprit involved in a recent hit-and-run incident. The collision, which involved a pedestrian and a pickup truck, occurred on December 11, 2024, at about 8:33 p.m. near the intersection of Meadowheath Drive and Hymeadow Drive, according to an APD press release.
The pedestrian was struck and injured due to the crash, but fortunately, the injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening. However, the driver involved did not stay at the scene or call 9-1-1 to report the incident, a failure on their part to stop and render aid, which is both a legal and moral obligation. Investigators have provided a description of the suspect; a possibly Black male, around 30 years of age, tall, with short, curly hair.
Details regarding the suspect's vehicle have also been released. It is described as a red Ford pickup truck, estimated to be a model from 2016 to 2017. While details are sparse, authorities are hoping that the public can offer additional information that could lead to identification and subsequent arrest of the individual involved.

"A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest," confirms the press release. As of now, the search for the suspect continues, the community's assistance could be crucial in bringing the individual to justice.
