Avondale is setting the stage to temporarily shut its doors on several city facilities this Presidents' Day, as announced by the city officials. Come Monday, February 17, residents will find City Hall, City Court, and other public venues decidedly less bustling. According to a city press release, the Avondale Public Libraries, Avondale Resource Center, Mountain View Community Center, Visitor and Conference Center, along with administrative offices at Public Works and Public Safety, will all be observing the federal holiday, closing up shop for the day.
Despite the closures, the city ensures that not all services will grind to a halt. There's no need to hastily rearrange your weekly routine concerning trash collection — the city confirms that there will be "NO CHANGES to trash/solid waste or bulk pick-up schedules," as stated by the City of Avondale.
Those dependent on local transportation should note, however, that while Valley Metro buses are set to run on a regular weekday schedule, there will be a notable absence of RAPID/Express bus service or WeRIDE microtransit for the day, officials note in the announcement.
