Baltimore has made a significant step in a recent homicide investigation, with the arrest of a suspect tied to a late December shooting, authorities report. The incident, which left one man dead, occurred on December 26th in the city's Eastern District. According to the Baltimore Police Department, 28-year-old Maurice Prioleau of Baltimore is facing charges for the murder of 27-year-old DeAngelo West.
Eastern District officers discovered West after they were called to the 2400 block of East Preston Street due to reports of a shooting. He had been shot in the back of the head and was critically injured and transferred to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The ensuing investigation led to Prioleau's arrest at a residence in the 2600 block of Tyler Street last Wednesday. Authorities detailed the case progression but did not divulge whether Prioleau had any connection with West before the fatal altercation.
Prioleau is now being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been formally charged with first-degree murder.
