An early Sunday morning call led Banning Police to the scene of a domestic incident turned violent. Officers arrived at a residence in the 1500 block of Altura Place around 5:30 a.m. following reports of a stabbing, according to Patch. Initially considered a possible home invasion, officers soon uncovered a more personal altercation.
Upon providing medical assistance to the juvenile victim with multiple stab wounds, detectives pieced together a domestic dispute scenario. As reported by FOX LA, the teenage boy was transported to a local trauma center and is expected to make a recovery. The suspect, 18-year-old Eirianna Zaragoza, initially thought to be a caller reporting the crime, was found to be the assailant.
Zaragoza, who was at the scene, has been arrested and booked on charges, including attempted murder. Holding her at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility, her bail has been set at $1 million. In a recent news release, Banning Police Acting Captain Brandon Smith praised the "excellent police work by the patrol team and detectives involved in this investigation," as found in a statement by Patch.
