In the wake of the devastating Los Angeles County wildfires, local Bay Area businesses are rallying in solidarity to support relief efforts. The Black Jet Baking Company, a San Francisco bakery, is donating proceeds from a specially dedicated "I Love LA" cake to aid those affected. "We decided to make a coconut layer cake that has the top I Love LA on it," Gillian Shaw Lundgren of Black Jet Baking Company explained, "inspired by the Randy Newman Song, so just trying to figure out what we can do." As reported by NBC Bay Area, the proceeds will specifically benefit Restaurants Care, a nonprofit assisting industry workers struck by the crisis.

Eater San Francisco has spotlighted further efforts within the Bay Area's culinary community. The gastronomic array of fundraising events stretches wide. Bar Pie Guys, a bar pizza pop-up, has joined forces with chef Spencer Horovitz to host a fundraiser where all the revenue will be directed to Slice Out Hunger. The event, slated for tomorrow at SPG in SoMa, invites patrons to enjoy pizzas and the Chutzpapi dish, with bookings available via Eventbrite. Similarly, Astranda Bakery plans to donate a portion of sales from specialty cinnamon rolls sold at their pop-up yesterday in Oakland, offering additional support for those fleeing the fires.

Other participants in this compassionate move include Flour + Water, which is donating $5 from every pasta tasting menu and other select items to World Central Kitchen, and the bar Friends and Family, which is redirecting proceeds from their Daily Affirmations shot to fire relief for the remaining part of January. Meanwhile, pie pop-up Ovinloven is rallying a community bake sale for January 26 at Casements, with proceeds earmarked for the California Community Foundation’s wildfire recovery fund. A similar spirit is seen at Masterpiece Coffee, which, along with Min’na and Imasala Collective, pledges a percentage of sales to procure essential supplies for families affected by the blaze, as per Eater San Francisco.
