Residents and visitors at the Baltimore Peninsula now have a sweet reason to rejoice, as Ben & Jerry's unveils its first Baltimore location at 2450 Rye Street. The beloved ice cream brand opened its doors to the public, inviting the community to indulge in its rich frozen treats from noon to 9 p.m. daily. "We’re thrilled to bring the joy of Ben & Jerry’s to Baltimore Peninsula," Jason & Jerry Bhuller of Ben & Jerry's shared their excitement in a statement detailed by WMAR2 News. They continued, "Everyone deserves to experience the magic of our ice cream, and we couldn’t be more excited to be opening Baltimore’s first franchised location in such a special community."
Positioning itself as an integral part of the Baltimore Peninsula's developing food district, Ben & Jerry's presence bolsters the area's appeal. The latest opening joins the ranks of recent establishments, such as Slutty Vegan, further shaping the Peninsula into a foodie's paradise. MAG Partners' Founder and CEO MaryAnne Gilmartin praised the new venture, "Ben & Jerry’s is a delightful addition to the burgeoning food district we’re building here at Baltimore Peninsula." She also emphasized the neighborhood's growth in an interview with The Daily Record, "We’re committed to creating a diverse and dynamic neighborhood that offers something for everyone, and this socially impactful, locally-owned franchise will be a meaningful (and delicious) part of our neighborhood."
Ben & Jerry’s opening introduced patrons to myriad flavors and products, including classic ice cream, non-dairy options, cakes, sundaes, shakes, Cookie Dough Chunks, and Doggie Desserts. While the Baltimore Peninsula got its first taste of the renowned ice cream chain, the Annapolis location has since closed, making this franchise the only Ben & Jerry's site in the greater Baltimore region.
