Bostonians are preparing for cold weather with sunny days and strong winds ahead, along with the possibility of a polar vortex. Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 33, but temperatures will drop to around 20 tonight with chilly west winds, according to the National Weather Service.
The winds over the next few days will reach 28 to 40 mph, bringing wind chills down to the single digits and teens. While not as severe as past storms, the cold will last a bit shorter. Thursday will see lighter winds but still enough to keep wind chills near zero in the morning, as reported by NBC Boston.
This week will bring sunny weather with highs around 29 on Wednesday and Thursday, and lows of 15 and 20 at night. Rain is likely by Saturday afternoon, with spotty showers over the weekend. Next week, Boston will experience a major cold snap, potentially the "coldest airmass of the season," with a chance of snow on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Winter’s chill is set to return, as stated by the National Weather Service and NBC Boston.
