A routine traffic stop by Boston police officers has led to the arrest of 21-year-old Raymon Lorenzo on firearm and drug charges. According to the Boston Police Department, the incident occurred in the Mattapan neighborhood when officers noted Lorenzo’s vehicle due to its heavily tinted windows, prompting them to initiate a stop near Stratton Street and Ames Street.

Upon interacting with Lorenzo, the Boston officers discovered marijuana and various drug paraphernalia in plain sight inside his vehicle; when questioned, he admitted to possessing over the legal limit of the substance as dictated by Massachusetts law, also revealing that the marijuana was not in its original dispensary packaging. This led the officers to conduct a more thorough search. Further into their investigation, officers found multiple packages of marijuana, totaling approximately 1.75 ounces, and a large plastic bag containing around 70 grams of crack cocaine.

As per the Boston Police Department's statement, authorities also recovered a loaded Sig Sauer P365 handgun from Lorenzo’s possession during the search. The firearm was equipped with a laser attachment, indicative of a preparedness that suggests motives beyond self-defense.

Lorenzo was taken into custody and now faces charges including multiple firearm-related offenses and drug trafficking, Boston Police have confirmed, stating that the suspect is slated for arraignment in Dorchester District Court. These charges reflect both a history of related violations and the severity of the offenses; Lorenzo is charged with second-offense unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, along with possession with intent to distribute and trafficking cocaine.
