In an early morning operation in Dorchester, police apprehended two men on charges related to drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession. The Boston Police Department reported that at 7:15 a.m. yesterday, officers from the E-13 (Jamaica Plain), B-3 (Mattapan), and Citywide Drug Control Units conducted a raid at a residence on Wildwood Street, resulting in the seizure of drugs, a firearm, and cash.

Officers observed the suspect, identified as Edwin German, aged 26, leave his residence prior to the raid. He was stopped at the intersection of Theodore Street and Morton Street. During the traffic stop, authorities learned that there were multiple individuals inside the targeted residence, as well as a pit bull, which was claimed to be friendly. As officers entered to execute the warrant, one was bitten by the dog, but was able to retreat and receive on-site first aid before being transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Inside the Dorchester home, officers detained three people, including 33-year-old Alberis Cruz. The search yielded items consistent with drug distribution, such as scales and baggies, a trafficking amount of cocaine, a 9mm ghost gun with a loaded 17-round magazine, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. According to the Boston Police Department's official statement, the pit bull was safely removed from the premises by Animal Control after being secured by officers.

Both German and Cruz are facing serious charges; German for trafficking Class B drugs (cocaine), and Cruz for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. The Boston Police Department's release stated that these individuals are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court following the incident. The injured officer has been treated for their injuries, while the investigation and legal procedures continue to unfold against those apprehended.
